Parent Network

The purpose of the OGMS Parent Network is to foster and to celebrate a strong sense of community among parents. The Parent Network works to encourage excellence in student development and achievement by advocating for our children and school, promoting parent involvement, enhancing school communications and supporting teachers and staff through the efforts of parent volunteers.

The Parent Network is a volunteer group that supports Oak Grove. All parents and guardians are a part of the OGMS Parent Network. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend meetings and events. We host many events throughout the school year that are geared to create partnership, parent involvement and providing support for parents in their vital role in the Oak Grove community. These events include parent meetings, family activities and guest speakers on topics of interest, i.e. Montessori education philosophy and use of materials, nutrition, discipline, children and technology, etc.

Also, throughout each year, there are school events that are necessary fundraisers and there are school events that allow our community to get together for social gatherings. The effort of the Parent Network is critical in the success of these events and we are so grateful to have the support of such committed and passionate parents.

Creating a strong bond as a community is a top priority for Oak Grove. Siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, other relatives, friends, alumni are all encouraged to contribute to and to participate in our community.

We know that all of our parents are busy with the demands of everyday life, but we want you to know that even the smallest contribution of your time, effort, and resources can have a significant impact on helping to enrich your children’s experiences here at Oak Grove.

While many families choose to volunteer above and beyond our requirement, each family is expected to volunteer at least 10 hours each school year. There are many ways to help and we will ask and post signs when help is needed. Please come and ask at the office if you have any questions.

A huge thank you in advance for the dedication and commitment to making our events successful this year. It is our goal to create the best educational experience for all of the children here, but it is also so important to create a strong community of children, staff, parents and friends. The work of the Parent Network is critical to both of these goals.

Here’s to a great 2014-15 school year!!
