Frog
Did you see that colorful frog?
Who got in a fight with a hog?
They fought all day
They got covered in hay ‘cause they fought at the farm in the fog.
Turtle
There once was a really slow turtle
Everybody called him Mertle
He’s as slow as can be
He’s slower than me!
But really knows how to hurtle.
By Anna Turner
Snowflakes make a blanket
Waiting just to thank it
For bringing winter here
And all of Christmas cheer
Rivers gurgling
Slowly but surely bringing
The first signs of spring
And a bird’s delicate wings
The sun’s hot rays burning
A pinwheel quickly turning
Laughter in the air
Warm and sticky air
Gliding from the trees
Slow and gentle breeze
Touching the hard ground
Leaves scattered all around
I was in right field
and I thought it was pretty boring
because it takes a strong lefty
to make that ball go soaring.
But, I was in for a surprise,
Two outs
a righty comes to bat.
“Strike one!”
the ump calls.
But, I can tell
That’s not the end of that.
I go in to my
ready-stance
just in case.
I hear
the clank of metal
against leather
and look up into space.
The ball goes soaring over
the second baseman’s head.
I say,
“I got it!” as loud as I can.
The center fielder
backs off.
I make a sliding catch.
The end of the inning is,
at hand,
I sense.
~ Will Roser
On one summer day I go to the fast flowing water fall icy, icy cold soon the water fall starts to go
Down
Down
Down
Into
Yet another pond and I stay and look at the rocks and the fish swimming by my feet soon one goes
Down down
Down down
So far down
That Soon
it hits water
flowing so fast just like the devil I can not walk fast or walk at all so I get out of the water and watch the fish swim on to the
Big
Grand
Enormous
Huge
River flowing so fast that the fish is pulled into my hand I go get a bucket and put him in and
I me myself all alone take him home
Before he is dragged out to sea

Am I going to make it in time?
To the place where it’s warm and the sun shines
As the leaves fall I have to get ready
I must leave my fall home and take to the air
I must leave my nest in the shivering trees now bare
I must leave my home on the farm
To go to a place I do not know
I am very afraid of first time migration
How will I know where to go?
How will I find a place that is safe?
I am told that I already know
Deep down inside I know where to go
But I am skeptical I do not know
I have slept to long the others have left
Now I am alone no one to guide me
The snow has started to fall
No I am doubting I will even make it at all
I take to the air my crimson wings flapping
I have to trust in my self let my navigation control
I close my eyes and clear my mind
With two beats and a flap I am there
… I have made it in time.

A poem is hard to write
I think I’ll be working all night
Limericks are hard
I wanna be a bard
I can’t wait ‘till it’s out of my sight
-Adam Tangari and Olin Green
There’s a big flying balloon
It kinda looks like a loon
I think it will be
Stuck up in a tree
I hope it is down by noon

My brother and dog are so rude
Their energetic and they are so crude.
Their manners are missing
And I am just wishing
They would both check their bad attitude

By Jocelyn Hoagland
I have a sense.
A sense
That everything is about to change.
What will the change be?
And where? Will the sun come up will
The moons go down will the bell
Awaken the whole town?
Change is it good or bad or in
Between? The person of change
Must feel like a queen!
Will she dig a hole will he fall
In? Will I find a fish with only
One fin?
Change it can be good or bad
Or in the middle. Some
Changes are big and others are
Little
Change it can happen
To anyone or anything.
Perhaps something will fall with
A little ping! Change, it happens don’t
Get me wrong.
But some changes take fairly
Long.
Like from summer to winter
From sun to frost
All the worlds’ changes
Have some cost.
Where is
My change where is it now?
When will my change come?
And how?
I see something coming
Over the hill it’s big! It’s huge!
It’s coming! Its here!
Change
By Quinn
Off we go.
Down the track.
Around the corner
And away we go!
When we get there
We smash and dash
For the end.
We yell and scream.
At the end. Hoping we can
Do it again!

Color
Color
You can be very peaceful or you can be tense
But how you can soften the mind
Colors are everywhere no matter how far you go there will be at least one color insight.
Vibrant orange sunset flowers
Bright silence dark
Green grass
Fresh
Purple and pink petunias
Mild
Light blue peaceful because of sky
soft

It was Giant’s vs. the Cowboys
In the 1st quarter the giants
Scored a touchdown that’s good.
In the 2nd quarter it got cold
My teeth began to chatter the
Cowboys scored a touchdown.
In the 3rd quarter it got very
Cold I almost froze the Giants
Scored a touchdown.
In the 4th quarter it went crazy
The giants scored then Cowboys
Then giants then the cowboy scored.
In overtime the cowboy scored then
The giants scored two times they won the game. The end
Inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson
A poem by Skyler Sears
In a castle
where horse menseek magic.
Seven fairies enchanted
the land of blue
where magic meets people.
&
the horse men
find magic
in the bed of the gardens
they awake the dragons
who go prowling to find horsemen who awake them.
streams ripple when the dragons pass
seeking the horse men. a water-can was found.
following their trail
the ground shakes
and the trees frown
as dragons pass.
they know that dragons
burn trees to the ground.
and they told the tree wizard
the dragons are after the horsemen.
and then,
the dragons find
what they want and just then,
such a loud BANG is heard and,
all the dragons die.
All the magic comes back through the core of the earth.
By Jason Meizels
I drew my sword
The dragon roared
I took a deep breath
And prepared for death
I held up my shield
Walked onto the field
I then saw him
The ripper of limbs
I clenched my teeth
And clutched my sheath
I could not fail
He swung his tail
I screamed as it
Swung and hit
I thrusted down
And saw a *crown
I hit the part
It was the heart
I had triumph
He went ‘Umph’
I had won this battle
So I climbed into my saddle
I rode towards a mountain
To fight another dragon!
*Dragons collect gold and crowns
By Jason Meizels
Ready and aim,
Draw the bow.
Pick an arrow from the quiver
Barely more then a sliver
GET DOWN!
GET READY!
AND FIRE!
As the arrow flew though this poem,
The serpent reared and it struck home
Though bone,
Though muscle,
And into the heart
He took his last breath,
And then he was dead
The Archer had won!

Dr. Martin Luther King
Went out on a wing
He led our fight for civil rights
He lit all the lights
We’re grateful to Dr. King
Miss Rosa Parks
She made some permanent marks
Sitting in the front of that bus
She did it all so we could have fairness
We’re grateful to Miss Parks
Mr. Barack Obama
Did something amazing; like riding a llama
He overcame barriers and broke through walls
And for us, that’s why he did it all
We’re grateful to Mr. Obama
Mr. Albert Einstein
Was fascinated by railroad lines
He was a genius but he got kicked out of school
I think he’s pretty cool
We’re grateful to Mr. Einstein
Miss Sojourner Truth
She escaped from slavery and her master’s ruth
She got down on a bent and bloodied knee
And prayed to find the key
We’re grateful to Miss Truth
Miss Harriet Tubman
Got away from the freedom ban
She went back to get all her friends
And even that’s not where it ends
We’re grateful to Miss Tubman
