Small little
Scary anthills
Little
But dangerous
Attackers sting
Biting
Attacking intruder
Garbage ants
Small
Food tunnel
Worker ants
Ants!
Bad Luck
by Eamon
The chicken walked on stilts to the
ball but the ball was on fire
so she went to the mall
but the mall was closed
so she went back to the
ball but the fire trucks
were blocking off the road.
She used her big stilts
to get over the road
so she would not get
run over by the huge trucks
on the road.
She took a big step
right into a crack
and flipped right onto
Her back. They rushed
Her to the hospital but
that was no good because
they did not no how to operate on
animals with big huge skinny stilts
She went back to her house
and sat in a chair
but the chair fell over back wards
and pulled her hair she had
no energy to move
so she lay down on the floor
and slept.
Blizzard
By Leanne
My window is frosted,
soft around the edges,
I lean in,
my cold nose against the glass.
I squint out,
around the edges I see,
snowflakes falling,
flutter, dance, curtsy.
I run outside,
my nose is cold,
I feel the flakes,
they hit my eyelashes.
The snow keeps falling,
my tracks are seen,
behind me I look,
but all I see is white.
Butterfly
by Emma
The moon is full,
The trees are swaying,
In the distance,
Wolves are baying,
At the moon.
From the starlight,
Lighting up the skies,
On a branch an owls seen,
Suddenly, away it flies,
To the dark lagoon.
The river runs cold and fast,
On its bank the raccoons play,
As the horizon turns to gold,
They quickly scurry away,
For dawn is soon.
The rays of sun warm the earth,
The children’s laughter is all it takes,
For the butterfly to decide to come,
As the world awakes,
Out of its cocoon.
City Life
by Nicholas
Bolting
Speeding
Cars cross
Steam
Smoke
Coming from a manhole
Rolling
Cluttering
Subways roll on the tracks
Yellow and black
Polluting
Taxis cross
Towering
Shiny
Buildings with light in the window
Hurrying
People get to work
People run among the city
Sitting
People walk
Slowly
Tiredly
People leaving buildings
Hungrily
The people eat
And then they…sleep
Concert Dreams
by Jackson
I was headed to a concert
Late at night,
Madison Square garden
In my eyesight.
I was very excited, it
Was my favorite band.
I knew the performance
Would be no less than grand.
The drumbeat started
Loud but slow
So everyone knew it
Was the start of the show.
The singer and bassist
Were equally great.
The concert went on
Until very late.
Then out of the amplifier
The guitar blared.
It was so amazing
I just sat there and stared.
Then the whole band raised
Their hands above their head
They did a quick bow and
The whole place went dead.
I was lying in my bed
And to my surprise
The whole thing just
Happened while I was
closing my eyes.
It all was a dream!
It didn’t really happen.
But throughout the whole day
I could still hear the clappin’.
Chameleon's Tongue
By Will
Shoom!
A flying
Little pink
String
Shoots right
Past my nose.
Like a pink bullet with a pink string it hits a fly in the nose. It
Shoots back
And there
It goes!
Right under the
Chameleon’s nose.
Flakes of Silver Rain
by Nadia
Flakes of silver rain
White dust falling from the sky
Magic fills the air
The Flowers Around
by Nadia
The flowers around
The scent overpowering
The nectar tastes of gold
The Green Tree Python
by AnhKhoa
Wow! A green tree python
Slithers over the road then
It hisses at me as it goes
Gummy Fish
By Nicholas
Happily
I walk to the corner store
The bell rings when I walk in
I look
I look on the racks
I look on the top shelf
I look inside a box on the top shelf
I found it
Gummy fish
Yummy
Funny
Good tasting
Heavenly good tasting
Little chewy fish
Gummy fish
I give him one dollar
And eat and eat then eat some more
And then I finish and go back for more
Is it here yet?
by Danielle
Meadows
are green
with
little
tufts
of
new grass
growing valleys
are
full
of
flowers
blowing
in
The
Breeze
Is It
Here
yet?
When
It
comes
will it
be
as
colorful
as
last
year?
Yes!
Yes!
Vary
Colorful
Spring
Is
Here
At last
spring
Joe and His Doe
by Graham
There once was a kid named Joe
who loved to go hunting with his doe
When he asked to sit down the doe said, “NO!”
When Joe sat down on the doe, the doe used the bow
To kill good ol’ Joe.
Lake Dreams
By Cailin
Sparkling and shimmering lake.
Stepping into crystal blue water,
the sky appears again in the sight of my eye.
Smooth water dived,
shining,
onto me.
The calm wind sent magic ripples through the peaceful lake.
Shining lake water,
splashed up towards the puffy white clouds.
Waves cascaded like a hand from heaven.
Soothed by the warm,
but cooling water,
covering me,
in its peaceful grasp.
Floated beautiful water,
when I looked up.
Lightning
By Luke
Crackling and roaring as it hits the earth
A shower of sparks as it sends shards of ice flying
Like arrows of glass as clear as day
Leaving indents in the earth where they unite
What was once icy tundra is now a dead barren landscape
Literature: The works of Plato introduction
Found poetry By Emily
As the reader reads Plato,
All is fresh dialogue washing over you
And it will become clear,
How all of his writing is so true.
Perplexity is a common symptom,
Realizing so,
The works of Plato.
The End
Little Rabbit Saha
by Danielle
Little rabbit Hop! Hop! Hop!
Little babbit Bop! Bop! Bop!
On a spring morning out in the
sun little rabbit Saha at a full run.
Moon Night
by Ciara
I walked to the window,
With Squirrelly in hand,
The moon shining down
As brightly as it can,
Filling up the yard
With beautiful moon-lace.
Fluttering around
Little moon-fairies play,
Flying by the window
As if it was day.
Thin wings as delicate
As spider’s silk.
I turn and look back,
My closed door is what I see,
I turn to the window,
The beauty around me.
I wish night could, would never leave,
But sleep was taking over me.
I took one last look
With fluttering eye lids,
I climbed into bed.
I held Squirrelly close
Gazing at the window,
As my eyes closed tight.
I drifted off to sleep
My last thoughts
Were of what I had just seen…
My moon night.
Morning Reflection
By Leanne
The image of my face,
I start to wrinkle,
As it fades,
I look again and I am there.
I throw a stone,
plop, a single sound,
cracking the silence,
I look again and wrinkle.
The silver mist,
it swirls, and twirls,
around my feet it plays,
I dip my hand in and it is gone.
It lays out in front,
the big dark joy,
as I visit the water,
I think my thoughts at the lake.
Ocean
By Nadia
Running on the cool grainy sand, wading in to the cold water, the slimy rocks under my feet. Under the cascading moon light I push further with only the power of the waves propelling me. The waves rocking me gently. Riding each wave like sea foam. Rolling with each wave crashing down gently. With one more look at the full glistening moon. I push under as seaweed passes I am gone.
By Eamon
I was riding on a scooter and I
crashed into a car I flipped head over
heels and landed on the tar
Nature
by Emily
I swam into an open pond,
Conceived in a closed wood,
The cool water slipped over me,
Pushing me under and pulling me back up,
The trees swayed in the silent breeze,
The sun glared with its brilliant rays.
I stepped onto the sandy beach,
My feet covered with grime
I packed my pack,
And ventured back into the woods.
The Beach
By Anna
Sinking in the sand
Water rushing over me
The sun disappears
The Dead Lakes
By Anna
Trees blow around as the warm sun lifts into the cloudless sky.
Quietly, red canoes slip into the crystal clear water.
Children’s laughter peacefully echoes in the silent water.
Wind sings a calming melody as the canoes disappear.
by Levi
I go walking
Past some vendors
At a fair eating
A bag chips
Then I saw
This amazing
Golden ship
When I looked
At the price I
Was going to
Faint For it
Must have been
Hard to use all
That paint
Then I said
“Oh handsome
mister I’ll trade
you that ship
for a lovely sister.”
The Mill
By Emily
I walked down the road, on my back a heavy load, my new shoes are squeaking.
I stepped on the old bridge over the ridge, the rotting boards are creaking.
I skipped down the hill to the old mill to deliver my pack to the workers.
They thanked me deeply, but the mill was quite creepy, and it seemed to be filled with lurkers.
I ran up the hill away from the mill, back over the ridge across the creaking bridge, and down the road,
my shoes no longer squeaking.
Years
By Emma
Flowers start to bloom,
Sweet scents floating in the air
For now it is spring
Flowers in full bloom
Pure laughter fills the air,
Summer has arrived
Flowers are no more,
Crisp winds fill the air with sand,
Fall shows its colors
Flowers now have passed
Snow flakes crystallize in air
The dead of winter
Wake up tomorrow,
New beginning, a new year
A fresh start for all
The Wild Band
by Danielle
A flying streak of black, brown,
and White thundered by then disappeared
around the bend just like that!
Waterfall
By Luke
The water gurgled and splashed
as it flowed down the river

The water was getting angry
it was so enraged it rose
In a steaming bubbling mass
and fell off the edge into oblivion
Toads
By Leanne
Flip, Flop, I see a dot,
Come hip hopping out of the grass.
It lands in the sand,
Right next to a band,
And it starts to dance,
The boogie woogie.
Webbed feet in the air,
Bumpy skin with no hair.
A toad I can see,
Croaking to the beat,
Of the midnight dance,
Croak, croak.
Ocean by Moonlight
By Leanne
Cool against my ankles,
moaning and groaning alone,
the sand squishing and squashing under my toes.
The full moon shines,
Its milky rays,
cradling the sky in its arms.
The soapy foam,
against the sand,
riding the edge of the waves.
Out on the land,
the dark water looms,
wishing for laughter and games.
Another day another time,
I call my goodnight,
to the silky waves.
Water
Emma
Sliding through water
Bursting up, lingering drops,
Still hold on to me.
Two Haikus
By Emily
The rain grayed the sky,
Moistening the ground to mud,
The dark clouds parted
The water rippled
disturbed by the disturbance
again it was still
Two Cat Poems
by Adam
I gots a black and white cat,
He’s a pig wit da food and he’s fat,
He’s as hyper as can be,
He’ll get stuck in da tree,
He shoves down more food and goes splat!!
My very old cat is so lazy
She’s stiff and her eyesight is hazy
She lies on the couch
She’s such a big grouch
When I turn my back she goes crazy.
Three Haikus
by Olin
Going through the air
Crash landing into the ground
Made out of paper
Orange, yellow, heat
Smoldering smoke swarms and heat
Coals after it’s done
Can grow tall or small
The prickly pointy problems
Hurts when you get poked
Singing in the Sun
By Emily
I stood beneath the cloud above,
Waiting for the sun to shine,
But the cloud covered the sun as though it were a glove,
Oi! What luck is mine!
All I want is for it to shine so I may sing and make a shrine.
Singing beneath the sun, singing beneath the sun.
Oh, how fun, to sing in the sun!
Yes, oh yes, how fun to sing in the sun.
